Dream Crib!
One of the few things that will not be vintage in the nursery is the crib. For obvious reasons of safety. Now, I know many people take the chance to buy their dream crib when they know they are having a shower but, something in my heart can't allow me to put a $400 crib on my registry. I feel that it is something my husband and I should buy and we definitely are not willing to shell out that money when we know we can get a perfectly modern, simple and safe crib at IKEA. But we can dream, can't we?

Preggo Product Rec
So, sometimes I like to make recommendations on beauty products because, well, it is what I do for a living. And I have to say, I am extremely picky about what i use. This has increased ten-fold since I found out I was pregnant. So, one of the lines that I came across and have fallen in love with is Belli. I have actually tried quite a few of their products but, the one that has honestly changed my life is their Acne Cleansing Facial Wash. It has honestly cleared my skin like you wouldn't believe AND it is made for pregnant women!

I fell in love with FABLER....
I have been having the hardest time finding a nursery decor that I actually like and shopping completely vintage for everything is great but, some things, like crib bedding, isn't practical for vintage shopping. So, I have searched high and low for my circus/fable theme with little luck....
Until, I met IKEA. I knew I wanted to buy the Gulliver crib on there ever since I had found it in a magazine article for being in the top 5 baby cribs and rated #1 for best economical crib (it's $100!). So, today, I randomly went on their site to take a gander and fell completely in love with their FABLER decor!

Vintage Music Books
I finally got an Etsy order in the mail of some music books I ordered for the nursery. They are in pretty good condition and I think they will make good decor. I want to do a lot of shelving with vintage toys and books so i think these will fit in well. Next I want to find one of those vintage tiny pianos to put with them but, that task seems near impossible.

Hi! This is me!
So, because I couldn't say anything for a few weeks, I never posted who I was or even a picture of me. Well, this is me! My name is Lara and I have been the writer on a few blogs and a couple of my own, most notably, La Chouette en Dimanche. I am a digital marketer for a Beauty company here in Chicagoland Illinois. This, as I have mentioned, is my first child and I am now 3 months pregnant!

If the Jeans Don't Fit...
Ok, so I only own 3 pairs of jeans. I tend to gravitate towards dresses and skirts for some reason but, of course, Fridays are our "jeans" days at work. Unfortunately, of the three pairs of jeans I own, only one pair fits. I can't believe I have already gotten to this point in my first pregnancy! I am only 11 weeks. In my jeans' defense, I wear them pretty darn fitted and in non-stretchy fabrics but, still!
As a result, I did some shopping. Thanks to Modcloth and their fabulous turn over of product, I managed to pick up some looser tops and dresses.

9 Weeks!
Today I am 9 weeks pregnant! I know some mamas say that their pregnancy goes by so fast but, mine seems to be just trailing along. I think it is because I knew I was pregnant so early (I found out at about 3 weeks). I am starting to get a little round in my belly. I am naturally pretty thin and fit so, it is fairly obvious to me that I am pregnant. I doubt that anyone else would ever notice though.
Well, because I wanted to mini-celebrate (and because I knew they were having a sale) I headed out to the local antique and thrift stores to do some shopping. I want to do the baby's room completely vintage so, I know I should start my searching now. I did manage to find a few things!
I found this book along with 2 Junior Deluxe Edition classic books (I collect them). It's actually a book of short stories from 1952. It's illustrated really well and will look good on my shelf of children's books.
Then I found this guy! I just had to buy him for the baby's room. He is one of those stiff stuffed animals from the 70s. But he just had the cutest face and could be for a boy or girl.

Surfing the Web too much....
I really should kick myself in the butt and not spend my time surfing the web for too long. Because you know what happens? You find sites to which you want to buy everything. That's what. I just had to find...

Vintage 1948 Baby Booties!
About a week ago, I was completely bored and going through a particularly "every thought on baby" mood. I stumbled luckily into the local JoAnn Fabrics store and found the cutest and seemingly easiest pattern for baby booties. Ok, ok, I know it isn't an actual vintage pattern but, it is republished from an original 1948 pattern by Simplicity and is just as adorably cute.
I am planning to make my first pair of them from my co-worker who is due April 1st. So, I will definitely post about that process.
Stuck inside!
I think you would have to be underground to not have heard that the Midwest got a crazy blizzard last night! Well this mamma-to-be was right in the middle of it! We live in the south suburbs of Chicago so inevitably, we were in the heart of it. It was definitely a crazy scene this morning after the whole storm system was out of the area. We had a total of about 18 inches of snowfall in a matter of 10 or so hours. However, due to high winds, we had a continuous 4 foot snow drift surrounding our house.
The snow drift surrounding our house!
The backyard...
The cat was generally confused....
As a result, my husband and I were snowed in and both of our offices were closed. Most of the roads in the area are still impassable so I am not sure if tomorrow will be another closed office day for me. I was actually OK with it because today I battled a bit more with morning sickness. I haven't actually had it too bad and I have never physically gotten ill but, today it was just a blah/gag day. I only managed to eat soup and a grilled cheese today. The soup itself was a great recipe I got from a fellow blogger!

The beginning of a journey...
At some point in middle of the Midwestern winter, I had an idea. To start a blog. Not because I love writing blogs (which I do, I have 2 others) but, because on snowy Sunday afternoon in January, I sat for 2 hours trying to find websites that sold and even talked about the maternity clothing, baby clothing, baby gear, etc that fit my style. Needless to say, there wasn't much out there! So, at 8 weeks pregnant, I decided to just start a blog about my vintage, thrifted style throughout my pregnancy to share with anyone who find themselves looking for the same thing.
For the first few weeks, my identity will be kept secret. This is obviously because it is still early for me and the only people who know about my joyful news are my husband and family. But, that doesn't mean I won't share my journey! I hope that this blog is helpful to even one woman who doesn't want to give up her vintage style because she is pregnant!
